Taj Mahal

QUESTION 1: List 3 facts about the Taj Mahal and post them on the page. Cite where you found the information (i.e. the book's title, copy and paste the website, etc.). You may not use the same facts that someone else has already posted.
QUESTION 2: List all the ways you see math being used in the Taj Mahal. You may not use the same ideas someone else has posted. You may use outside resources to help you. Think about science, architecture, history, math, etc. Math is not just one subject, it is a universal language that is intertwined into all things. Be creative. Use your resources. Do some research! I can't want to see what you discover. :)

More photographs and videos about the Taj Mahal will be posted at a future date.

  12. Wow these building are amazing.
just the way that they are built and the way that they are so well preserved.
i just think that every little marking that went into it probably took years and years to build.

also the camera. is like amazing
and the people in all of the pictures look so friendly.
but i guess this is one of those little things that shows the good side of India.
but most of India is in the slums. most of the India population. is in terrible condition.

but i guess it also states that there is good in the world. and in some places that you think are just so terrible, there is a light. that light just needs to be exsposed.

  18. Jessica - Miss Reynolds says, "Hi! Thanks for checking out the blog. What's up?"

Emily - I miss you so much too! Great posts! I love how everyone is sharing information.

Ben - you would love India, but I think the poverty here would break your heart. Aladdin was my first thought too! I just goes to show us how our culture has programmed our knowledge and images of the world and what we relate/connect our experiences to. That s why I think it is important to "see" many different things because then that changes the way you view yourself, life, and future experiences. I am amused that we had the same thought. Isn't it weird how the setting of Aladdin is not even in India?! That makes me laugh because it is a totally different place. Haha! Nice work almost beating Mr. Hurricane. He is tall, but you will grow one day. Keep drinking water and eating well. Being healthy is the best way to feed your muscles and height. Also, there is extensive research on how sleep helps people reach their full genetic potential, so make sure you're not staying up all night practicing the Spider move because you still need to grow, so you can be taller than Mr. Hurricane and beat him. :) I will need to practice when I get back before our challenge. I'm nervous. :)

Brandt - You're doing great and posting a lot of valuable questions and insights. Keep it up!

Michael - Good work working on your journal entries. :) I miss you.

Anon - I love the wisdom in your writing. :)

Jonolin33 - You have to wear booties or go barefoot because it is a sacred place. In their culture it is a sign of respect and people usually do not wear shoes in homes, temples, etc.
Imagine what would happen to the grounds of the Taj if millions of people wore their shoes there every day. That would be a mess.

  21. Answer to question 1

The Taj Mahal (also "the Taj") is considered the finest example of Mughal architecture, a style that combines elements from Indian and Islamic architectural styles, especially those of Persia and Turkey.

The construction of Taj Mahal begun soon after Mumtaz's death with the principal mausoleum completed in 1648.

The base structure is a large, multi-chambered structure.

  22. Answer to question 2

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taj_Mahal#Origin_and_inspiration

The measurements used to plan and construct Taj Mahal.
The base is essentially a cube with chamfered edges and is roughly 55 meters on each side.

The marble dome that surmounts the tomb is its most spectacular feature. Its height is about the same size as the base of the building, about 35 meters, and is accentuated as it sits on a cylindrical "drum" of about 7 metres high.

  23. Answer to question 1:It was about 2 million dollars,The workforce was 22,000,The hight of the dome is 35 meters.
